Watch Your Step Before You Leap

Pip & Booger

I’ll start with the sad news first. The little orphan kitten I’ve been taking care of died Tuesday night. I cried about it and the other cats were looking for him. He was buried with his dragon blanket and stuffed penguin. 🙁 This is the last picture I took of him. He spent the day laying on my bed sleeping with Booger. At least Pip is with his two sisters now.

The 5th to the 7th I was sitting at Midvale Miners Festival. There was a mine in Midvale so they started having a festival based around there. Honestly I won’t be going next year because the festival isn’t that well put together.

Saturday (the 6th) was family day. My niece was with us and she couldn’t play any of the games because the kids had to be 4 years old. Not only that but they said they had goodie bags for all the kids, when my niece and I walked over to get her one they were out.

They had a hula hoop contest for the older kids, I had no problem with that…but the music they played was not right for family day or children at all. It was club music! And one of the songs has cursing in it – don’t get me wrong I curse like a sailor but I don’t do it in front of children.

9/06 Sunset

At least the sunset was nice on “family day”.

Sunday (the 7th) was the day I had been waiting for – the car show!

Even the car show didn’t make sense they had all the field behind the baseball diamonds that they could use, but they parked the cars so there were four short rows (four to five cars per row). Once that small area was full they started using the field behind the baseball diamonds. To me it would have made more sense to do it the other way around.

Car Show

Even though they had no clue what they were doing, there were some nice cars there. Though I do get upset with they allow new cars in the show, sorry – car shows are for those classic cars not new pieces of plastic.

I was extremely happy when the weekend was over. It was a long weekend and all I wanted to do was relax and sleep.

I did make enough money to have some and spend a little.

So I ended up buying Christmas gifts – I’m done Christmas shopping! Well I mean unless I find something random at a store.

After that I bought myself a short black wig – I can’t wait to have it and wear it. I also finally bought glasses- ugh. Oh and a chest binder! I can pitch the one that’s falling apart and have this new one I ordered. I just hope I ordered it in white, I can’t remember what color I ordered. haha.

One of my favorite bands have a new album coming out next month. So to celebrate I ordered a new t-shirt. It’s with their main logo on it too, so I’m excited. Also it shouldn’t be so big because it’s a fitted shirt, but I know it’s going to be a little big. Either way I’m going to wear it SO much. ^_^

With the big festival coming up the first weekend in October I’ve been mainly trying to do what hand sewing I can – I just don’t feel like getting my sewing machine out this week since I won’t have a lot of time to just sit at it and sew.

Journal Pen Holder

This is a new thing I’m making. It’s a journal/notebook pen holder. It’s a pocket of fabric on a piece of elastic. The elastic slips over your notebook and you can put pens in the pocket. I thought it was a super great idea and well I’m pretty sure I’ll be keeping one for myself…I broke the clip on my pen last night. I think I have around 20 or 30 of these cut out and just need finished. I’m thinking the price will be around $2 or $3. How much would you pay for something like this? I thought about $1, but there is a lot of work that goes into them even though they look so simple.

Crayon Booklet

These are fun to make. They’re crayon & paper booklets! It’s two pieces of felt sewn together. The inside has slots to hold four crayons, and there’s a slot to hold paper. The closure is a piece of velcro. I’m going to sell them with a good amount of paper in them. I think the price point on these will be $2.

Anything for children I don’t like pricing it high because I know when I was a kid I was given an amount of money for festivals and such. So making something marketed toward kids and pricing it at $20….that’s just not right. Or at least in my heart it’s not right.

I have four of the booklets cut out. I’m going to buy enough felt to make 10 or so. I can get one booklet out of one piece of felt.

Oh yeah! Tuesday I went to a quarter sale! Yes, everything was 25 cents!

I found a new “leather” jacket for myself. It’s not the same style my old one is but I’ll still wear it. It doesn’t have holes like my old one. Haha.

Shirt

I bought this shirt and I can’t wait to wear it when I have my chest binder and new wig. ^_^

And I know I’ve been slacking on returning comments, but last week was just so crazy with the festival at the end of the week and everything. I’m hoping to have time to really sit down and return comments this weekend.

For now though I’m going to finish eating my pizza…which is like flat bread with a huge pile of stuff just in the middle…so 90% of it is crust. My niece made it. haha.

Also, if  you have instagram – I’m finally on there! I know it took me forever but at least I finally made it – StupidEyed.

  1. I’m so sorry to hear about the kitten dying. 🙁 I’m also wondering how long the festival has been going on – maybe if it’s a relatively new one, they still aren’t sure about how to do things. I do agree that the sunset was/is absolutely gorgeous. They are probably the thing that I love photographing the most…not that I’ve been doing much of that lately. I’m also following you on Instagram – missjessicamezo. 🙂

  2. I am sorry about the liter . I have had sad experiences like that witb kittens and other animals. It is hard to go through through. 🙁 it’s good that you tried to care for it.

I wonder how long they have been doing the festival. Or, at least. The children’s activities? If not long, then planning issues are kind of understandable.. However, if they have been doing this for quite some time, then those issues probably shouldn’t have occurred.

One time I was at a 4 year old’s party and a venue strictly for children’s parties.. The music they played was disturbing to me as well.. There was a lot of inappropriate songs (like that tick tock on the clock song). All of the songs were remakes sung by children, which actually may have made it worse. So, yeah, I hear you about inappropriate music!

I really love your journal writing utensil holders.. I know I could use one. I think anywhere around 5 or under, depending on the design, would be reasonable.. Maybe even throw in a pen?

  3. I’m sorry to hear about your kitten. That’s really sad news. 🙁

I really like the idea of the pen holder for notebooks. I always stuff my pen in the ring binder of my notebook but it always gets stuck!

  4. I’m so sorry to hear about the passing of the kitty you were caring for. That’s really sad! 🙁

How strange that they found it appropriate to be playing fast paced club music at a family centered festival too!

How nice of you to make these great pencil/crayon holders for kids. Are you planning on selling them on Etsy or just locally? Either way, such a nice thing you’re doing with the price point & what not. Can’t stand when I see some item that’s supposed to be for kids at obnoxious prices.

  5. Oh my goodness 🙁 As someone that lost two important pets in their life, I know the pain. I’m sorry, girl! I know that poor kitty is in a better place now.

You finished Christmas shopping already? I began it last year when Christmas was over. Lmao. I’m so going to follow you on Instagram! I’m shellyyum on it! Hahahaha

I usually hate plaid, but it looks nice on you! I love wigs, and soon will be wearing them more when Halloween is near. It’s okay, just get rest and return comments when you can.

  6. Aw, so sorry to hear about the kitty. I really like the two things you are making for the festival. It’s so nice that you are pricing the items so kids can purchase them. I think the pen holder would be good at $3. I know I would buy one. 🙂
