Happy Birthday!

Birthday Cake

The picture says it all. Today is officially Elizabeth’s first birthday. There isn’t a party until Saturday – which I didn’t know until AFTER I signed up for this arts/crafts thing. Even though we didn’t have a party today mom went out this morning and bought a small round cake. Sadly the cake selection at the store she went to wasn’t that great. She said it was either red, white & blue or the butterfly cake. My thought is – they already have 4th of July cakes out?! Ha ha.

Let me back up a little…

This morning I did wake up a little earlier then I normally do for some reason. When I got up Elizabeth was just going down for a nap. Her nap didn’t last too long so by the time I was finished doing a few morning things she was already up. Mom was waiting on her husband to finish fixing something on the van before going back out to a few stores. This morning she went to one store looking for just simple white canvas shoes and all she found were large sizes.

Once everything on the van was finished we went out to a few stores. First we had to stop at a store to get Elizabeth shoes – why? Because the one pair my mom always puts on her, well we only have one of them and her mom is too lazy to look in their bedroom for it. The shoes mom bought here were on sale though. We also found little black boots that were only $3. I looked through the shoes in hopes they’d have a pair of those canvas shoes in my size – I’ve been wanting to get a pair for a while – and they didn’t have any.

Before leaving that store I was able to pick up some hummus, carrots, tofu, lunch “meat”…giving me a few things I’ll be able to pack in a lunch for the weekend.

We went across the street to another store. We looked for shoes there as well – to find nothing. I also picked up a new cup – I had one of those cups with the straw but the lid was cracked. This time I got a larger one and it’s orange – only because they didn’t have any in red.

We gave up on the shoe search and went to a nearby store to get balloons…just to find out they didn’t have any gas to fill them! Ugh.

So no shoes and no balloons.

I did get some snakes at the last store for the trip to Cleveland tomorrow. Sadly I won’t be going to see The Adicts. My mom has an appointment with her new doctor and after she’s finished she’s going to stop at a few stores on the way home to hopefully find Elizabeth a birthday gift – there’s no toy stores near where we live.

In preparation for the 2 hour ride to Cleveland I’m redoing my MP3 player right now. In the morning while I take a shower I’m going to let my camera charge – yes I do take it every where.

Yesterday I did order Elizabeth’s birthday gift! I ordered her a play shopping cart. It was $25 but it also came with 78 pieces of “play food”. I think the cats are going to end up getting rides. When I was checking out though I found I still had nearly $4 on an amazon gift card! So the total only ended up being around $21. It was one of the items that I could get free shipping on as well – which I did. It says it takes a little longer to get it in the mail but the last item I did that with it seemed I got it so quickly. Hoping it works out the same way.

Well I’m off to find a snack and to finish with my MP3 player.

  1. Happy birthday to Elizabeth! :D Such an awesome cake too, I remember loving butterflies so much as a kid. :’)

Ahaha I know 4th of July is obviously not celebrated in Australia, but as with any celebration, they always seem to come out early with everything. Decorations, cakes, you name it. :P Too bad there wasn’t a nice red/white/blue one that wasn’t too… patriotic? XD

I think Elizabeth’s going to be a shoe lover! ;)

You could manually blow up the balloons yourself, I guess? xD I hate doing that, personally, though. I can’t blow for shit. (Excuse my language.)

I loved play food so much when I was a kid. I had a little plastic stove toy that I stood at (or sat at, when I was older and still loved the damn thing!)… and it even had cupboards and utensils and things. Ahh. I hope Elizabeth enjoys her birthday <3

  2. That cake is gorgeous, love it!

And play food was the best present ever when I was a kid. I loved the peas.
