Everything Fall

Horror Pack

First I want to talk about something neat I came across while just randomly looking through things online. You all know I do love a great subscription box and the horror themed one I used to get just didn’t excite me. I think that’s mainly due to the fact I’m not a huge fan of current horror.

What can I say, I love what I grew up with.

See Me Cruising Down Route 666

It’s to believe yesterday it was in the high 60’s and today it’s well below 50!

The good thing is I think everyone was able to enjoy the weather in their own way. Puppy & Wednesday sat on the back steps. Wednesday was born around Halloween so this is her first true time figuring out what’s outside.

She could hear birds but she wasn’t able to spot them. The other kittens were outside from time to time too.

I used the nice weather to get out of the house for a few and use my camera. Boy have I missed going outside.

I also used yesterday to turn music up and hang up some paintings I’ve been putting off. That wall has been a while in the making and all three of those paintings are based on songs. One day when I have the extra cash – and remember – I am going to buy frames for them, but they’re fine the way they are now.

Last night I was trying to renew my domain. I made a stupid little accident and typed the wrong amount I wanted to transfer to my Name Cheap account. Well I think they acted on my request and refunded the money so I can add the right amount and renew my domain. The downside is I can’t get my online banking site to load so I’m not 100% sure – I want to be super sure about it so I’m not digging a hole with my account. Last thing I want to do.

Today my niece and I got new temporary tattoos. They’re the super cheap ones that start to fade within an hour though.

It’s so cold today I just wanted to stay in bed, but that didn’t happen since my niece was here…and well to be honest that would never happen.

With the convention coming up I did finally pick which outfit I’m going to wear. I’m going to wear my Little Bo Peep costume since I’ve had so much time put into it already. Tomorrow I’m going to try it on one last time to make sure everything is great with it, and then I’m going to get it on the hangers and in a bag so that’s one less thing I need to think about getting together.

I think I am getting more excited as it comes closer, but I’m still nervous.

Snacks and such are things that I’m trying to think about gathering a few before hand. I won’t have the extra money to eat out so I figure I can take a few things to eat. I mean most hotels have fridges and we have so many coolers around here.

As far as drinks go I’m going to take some empty water bottles and fill them with tea. So much cheaper compared to buying something at gas stations!

I’m also considering making some kind of bean dip, the kind I make is a take on hummus so there’s nothing like cheese or milk in it.

Easter is coming up too!

Last night my niece said she wants the Easter bunny to bring her a La La Loopsey…or however you spell it…the reason? Her mom told her she’s not going to buy her one, EVER! I can honestly believe she said that. So this just means my mo and I will be hunting down one of those dolls before Easter.

Oh yeah! Yesterday morning I woke up and one of the first things I did was I lost the ball for my nose ring. I spent so long looking for it and I finally gave up. So I ended up having to change my nose ring…and I realized how much I hate doing it. The nose ring I put in, I think is a bit smaller compared to how large the loop on the other one was. And the ball for this one is staying in so much better. I think the old nose ring was stretched out or something and that’s why the ball wasn’t staying in.

I Want To Wake Up, In A City That Never Sleeps

Happy 2014!

Wow…did I really say that? 2014 already? Hard to believe!

So what are my memories from 2013 that will live on into 2014?

One of the major things would be the first time I met Jason. I was so nervous that he wouldn’t see anything in me and would really want nothing to do with me. We met at the end of July and it’s already January. I still get those butterflies too.

My niece finding a love for singing – basic children’s songs – has to make the list. It’s funny because she has a bit of a lisp, and the songs don’t come out like they should. She replaces ‘I’ with ‘Me’.

In 2013 I tried (vegan) sushi for the first time and have quickly grown a love for it. My favorite favorite favorite is avocado.

I started selling my crafts online [LINK]. It was a long process to get it together and off the ground but I’m glad I put the it together.

Jason and I went to our first concert together – Sundowner – and I’m pretty sure he had as much fun as I did.

And through the year I’ve grown closer to friends who don’t live around me. The few friends I’ve grown super close to I know I can trust everything with them and I’m glad they’re in my life to support me and kick me in the ass when I need it.

I know my top memories really are not much compared to others but this year wasn’t very eventful for me. In the end though it was a good year.

In 2014 one of the major things on my list is to open my shop up to international shipping. I haven’t done it yet though because of the high cost it will be and I’m honestly not sure if people are willing to pay so much in shipping for small handmade items. For international readers, would you be willing to pay the high shipping for something that is homemade?

Another thing that’s on the top of my 2014 list is to do a ‘XXX books in 2014’. I know it’s already the 1st and I haven’t made a page or even picked the number of books I want to read. I know every year I expand my creativity but I’ve been lacking on expanding my mind – which I’m highly ashamed to admit. Considering I’ve started reading a book only a few hours ago I think it’s okay to not have a page up for the list of books I’ve read. What number of books do you guys suggest I read? I’ve seen people do 25, 50 and 100 – I just don’t think 25 is too low. I know people are busy with life and studies so I understand .

I do plan to make do a movie challenge though! I know everyone knows how much I enjoy a good film – especially b-rate. So I’m going to challenge myself to watch 200 movies in 2014 – 150 movies I’ve never seen before. This will count both older films and new films. I’m going to have a page for that on here, and I’ll also have a page on TaV [LINK] for it – I’ll also be reviewing the films.

On a sewing note, in 2014 I plan to work more on construction of clothing. I’m 100% self taught so I think it’s something great to work toward. The goal is to understand and get good enough at construction to make myself a knee length coat.

With my little reflection on 2013 and looking forward to 2014 over I’ll most onto what I did yesterday and today.

Yesterday I really spent the day laying around and sleeping. I had this great idea to go with Missy to work. She worked from 11pm to 7am. I figured it would be funny with everyone coming from the bars and celebrations. There was one point during the day there was no one there. It was so quiet. But that was after the bar crowd was there. One table was eight people. One of them – adults – thought throwing food was a good idea. The lady should be happy I didn’t get up and punch her when whatever she was throwing hit me!

One of the guys that works at a local bar made it in around 5am or so when there as no one else there. I talked to him about music – he thought I listened to metal due to my look – and a few random things.

Then around 6am a group of 20 people came in! Yes one table with 20 people! So she had to push tables together and everything. Within a few minutes of them sitting down a table of 10 came in. So we didn’t get out of there until after 8am.

It was well worth it though – I love people watching! And I also was able to find and download a free coat pattern! I’m super excited to look at it and see how much fabric I need so I can start keeping an eye out for fabric on sale for it. I finally was able to load all my books on my tablet. 90% of them are cookbooks or even craft books. I just can’t help myself when I find free cookbooks or craft books. Haha!

I did download a couple apps that my niece can play with. One is making a pizza – she made a pizza for my mom this afternoon…it had carrots, candy canes and strawberries on it. I did download another app for preschool kids but it wasn’t worth it so I deleted it. The other app I’m keeping for her is a finger painting app – okay I might use it too. ^_^

I did break down and get the app of the day for today through amazon called Little Things Forever [LINK – this is the google play link]. I haven’t really played it yet, but I looked at the screen shots and it looks like a lot of fun. My mom is addicted to those hidden object games, so I’m sure if I need help finding one of the objects I won’t have my tablet for a while because she’ll keep playing. haha.

Another app I found is one that helps you find cruelty free products. It’s going to come in super handy for sure. Next time I have wifi I’m going to look for an app that help you pick out vegan foods – when you find something new it just gets so tiring having to read everything that’s in it before you know if it’s okay to buy. An app would just make shopping so much quicker.

Last night I did pay a bill off, then I ordered¬† something fun for Jason. ^_^ It won’t be here until around the 17th and that’s just going to kill me!

While I was doing bills and shopping I did look at my domain that needs renewed on the 16th – I’m a few cents short to pay it with my credits! And I don’t have enough in the bank because the lowest amount you can add to your account is $10. >_< I’m going to contact them and see if there’s a way around it since it is really just a few cents. I had two domains that needed renewed on that day so I renewed the cheaper one first – which is my photoblog [LINK]. Ugh. It’s just so stupid that they can’t take the credit from my account first then that the rest from my bank account.

Yesterday before going with Missy I finally got my package from Lori – okay I say finally because I’m pretty sure it was at the post office on Monday. Now…picture spam of some of the fun things she sent me. ^_^

Hello Kitty Shoes

Hello Kitty Van’s! If you don’t know, Van’s are the only “daily” shoes I wear. My boots and Mary Janes are both different brands but when it comes to shoes I wear for basic day to day needs it’s Van’s. So Van’s teamed up and did a line of Hello Kitty shoes. Around here I couldn’t find them and Lori found them at an outlet store. They are a bit more roomy than my old ones, but the great thing is I can wear socks with these ones now…wearing no socks makes your shoes yucky and smell bad so I won’t have that problem with these.

Love Shirt

I do love this shirt!

Wild & Free

This sweatshirt is all related to White Wives. They have a song ‘Grow So Wild & Free’. I’m so glad Lori found this and picked it up. It’s a small so it’s big on me, but the right kind of big. I washed it and wore it last night and just wore a tank top under it – so comfy! The fabric is so soft too, I’m going to look up the company that made it and order more sweatshirts from them. And it’s the best kind of fabric too because it is thin enough to wear during a cool spring day as well. Last night I wore it with a pair of pink skinny jeans and I can’t wait to pair it with a pair of black leggings.

Hello Kitty

Yes I’m a Hello Kitty fan. And these made me smile. My niece already took the tennis one. I have the pie one on my desk – the pie smells like cherry too! I’m going to put the artist one on my nightstand.

Hello Kitty

Band Aids, stickers and ribbon! I admit, I will be using the band aids for the right reason. And the ribbon I’m going to save because I want to make a Hello Kitty themed Lolita dress.

Hello Kitty

The package on the left was a mega block Hello Kitty. She came with a lollie pop. The middle is a cute Hello Kitty bracelet. And the last little package is “America The Beautiful”. The state I got was Oregon – so she’s dressed up like a beaver! ^_^

Hello Kitty

And lately some stickers and a notebook. Two sets of the stickers are confetti stickers – which I’ve seen before but never Hello Kitty ones. And the notebook will come in handy. I keep changing passwords and such so I can keep track of them in a notebook finally.

Tonight I did finally do something – aside from lay in bed and ready. I finally started cutting the pieces out for my dress.

Swing Dress

This is the dress I’ll be making. The skirt of the dress will be 18 inches of black & white fabric with red cherries on it – 4 inches of the bottom of the skirt will be solid black fabric. The bodice (top) of the dress will be solid red fabric. The straps are going to be black fabric with red cherries on it. And the belt is going to be solid black fabric. ^_^

To my huge surprise it didn’t take that long at all to cut out and honestly I wanted to start sewing it tonight. Construction of dresses has always scared me and I don’t know why. It’s so simple. I’ve only been making clothing for about three years now and I think in those few short years I’ve come very far compared to where I started. Ever since I started sewing I secretly wanted to have a clothing line. Well that’s a huge dream, so I’ll be happy with making a clothing line just for myself. ^_^ A clothing line with a vintage spin and punk at heart.

I’ve promised myself to hold off on buying back seam stockings until it’s spring – which I’m sure I’ll break that rule soon. Haha.

Is there a time period that you LOVE the clothing from?

As you can see in the dress I do adore the 40’s/50’s. I’m not super girlie at all, but the clothing was just great. I’m not a fan of high waist clothing though – I’m short so it’s just not a good look even if it is clothing made for my body. I do dream of having a pair of high waist sailor shorts though. With that said the clothing from the 60’s – especially the hippie clothing, I love that too.¬† All of the clothing I wear though will always have a punk influence to it. This dress I’m making is full of red and black – but also reflects my love for rockabilly. Cherries are greatly used within the rockabilly community. The first time I wear the dress I will pair it with a pair of fishnet stockings and combat boots.

Fashion shouldn’t be something to be afraid of, even if you don’t know anyone who embraces the kind of fashion you do. Fashion is a way to show the world who you are without having to say a word.

With all of that said, I think it’s time to get in bed. It’s already past 1am.

I’m Flat Broke, But I Don’t Care

I hope everyone has enjoyed the holiday season so far. I’m honestly glad it’s nearly over with – then life can get back to normal. Which means I get to spend time with Jason like I used to. I just miss spending time with him.

This is all the hair – well most of the hair – that was cut off when I had my hair cut. I took a lot off the top, the sides really weren’t grown out that far but it was too far for me. I think you can really see the difference in the picture below. I used to be able to pull all my hair back in a ponytail and now I can’t do that – it feels so great! But the good thing is I can still wear headbands – when I’m doing small hand projects I just like having my hair out of my face. And Jason liked my haircut too. ^_^

On the 23rd I did get to see him and spend some time with him. ^_^ It was great to see him, as I said I miss him bunches.

Jason and Me

Jason came down after work and picked me up. He was taking me out for dinner and so we could exchange Christmas gifts. We had sushi – animal friendly sushi. I had been craving sushi for the past couple months and just never got around to getting any – plus I really wanted Jason to go to the sushi place that’s near where I live. It’s not big or fancy but they do have good sushi.

When we got there though there was a group of people standing inside the doorway so we thought we would have to wait in line – luckily that wasn’t the case. They were just such a large group they were having to wait for one of the larger tables to be cleared so they could be seated. They were a bit busy – which surprised me – but we got a seat right away.

Jason ordered two rolls that had fish in them and he ordered a sweet potato roll (meat free). I ordered an asparagus roll and an avocado roll.

As usual the sushi there was great. And well it was great to be sitting across from Jason talking about things and just getting to see him.

We were nearly finished when we realized it would have been a good thing to bring the gifts in so we could exchange gifts.

After sushi we went to the coffee shop to exchange gifts – they were open until 10 which surprised me. At first there wasn’t really anyone there but after we had been there for a bit there seemed to be more people coming in.

Camera Cup

Yes, Jason got me the best gift ever. ^_^ He said when he said it he thought of me because he doesn’t know anyone else who is as into photography as I am. And well…I LOVE IT! I even came home, washed it and used it Christmas Eve.

I gave Jason a wooden pirate ship I built, a pirate rubber duckie, pirate related temporary tattoos, a grow your own zombie thingie, a mix cd (because I’m a dork) and whiskey stones. Okay I know whiskey stones sound weird so I’ll explain – they’re stones you chill and put in your drink to keep your drink cold without watering it down. When I first seen them they only had packs that were all one color, so I searched around until I found a set that had a couple different colored stones.

Oh and I got his puppy a stuffed animal, treats and a rope toy. ^_^ I was told he loves the rope toy.

Christmas Eve we opened gifts at my moms house.

It really took my niece two hours to open her gifts. You have to remember she’s two – so everything she opened she had to take time to look at before she opened the next thing.

My aunt made my niece a family of three pigs – a big pig and two little pigs. She also got a pig purse and a pig calendar. I have no clue why she likes pigs.

She also ended up getting two baby dolls. One of them came with bottles and little toys. So she ended up having the diaper bag I made her shoved full of stuff for her baby dolls.

This was my “big” gift from my mom. It’s a SmartTab and it came with a keyboard! I know a lot of people are against buying products that are not name brand, but my mom knew how much I never want any Apple product. So anyways, I love it! It works great. Today I sat and fixed the screens – so I have the music player on the same menu with Last.FM – twitter on the same menu as facebook – and so on. Last night I went to Denny’s while Missy was working and used their wifi to download some apps and play around with it. I downloaded a twitter app, facebook app, flixster app, a photo app, a word app…oh and I also downloaded Kindle app. ^_^

I use the amazon app store so if anyone has any app suggestions let me know – just keep in mine at home I don’t have wifi so I’m looking for apps that will be useful/fun without a wifi connection. And if you have any (free) book suggestions please feel free to let me know.

The app I got for typing docs is awesome. I used it this morning and wrote for about an hour – which felt awesome. That is one of the main reasons I wanted the keyboard with the tablet is so I can lay in bed and write a little.

And I already have the last three episodes of season 3 of Futurama on my tablet too. And I have the first four episodes of season one of Supernatural. ^_^

And this is my stylus for my tablet – it’s also a regular pen. ^_^

My mom got me this backpack. ^_^ It’s smaller than the one I usually take with my when I stay at Jason’s, but the next time I stay with him I’m going to try the backpack out and see if I can fit what I need in it.

My younger brother’s girlfriend gave me a little lotion and perfume set & a necklace that says “Love, Peace, Believe”. My younger brother gave me fuzzy dice that has Hello Kitty on them. From my mom I also got a Mama’s Family [LINK] DVD (Mama’s Favorites from Season 1), Re-Animator [LINK], a wok, a Potato Express (gag gift, because I had been talking about it so much after I seen an ad for it). My older brother gave me two kinds of chap stick.

The only persons we didn’t open gifts from was my aunt and grandpa because she thought we were just opening gifts for my niece since we didn’t have her on Christmas Day.

So on Christmas day we opened gifts from my aunt and my grandpa. My grandpa doesn’t come to family holidays due to his new wife. Long story.

My aunt gave me these two fabrics – there’s around 1 yard of each. If you’re new to my blog you’ll have to know I love cherries – I even have a cherry tattoo. I’m looking for a swing dress (50’s style dress) pattern. I’m going to use the fabric with the black background to make the dress and I think the other I may make myself a new bag – or an overnight bag using the pattern for that baby doll diaper bag I made.

And my aunt made everyone pillows. I got these two that have cats on them, my younger brother got pillows with deer on them, my mom got OSU pillows…I’m not sure what was on my older brothers pillows though.

My grandpa put $45 on my phone account. Which will pay for my phone bill for one month and the following month I’ll only have to pay $25.

I got this in the mail today from my friend Maki. ^_^ It’s so cute I’m not going to put it away just because Christmas is over. I’m going to start a letter to her sometime next week so I can get it in the mail and I’m going to draw her a picture or something to stick in with the letter.

Overall Christmas was good this year – well even though Christmas day didn’t feel like Christmas at all. To me it just felt like any other day and I really don’t know why I felt that way. Maybe it was just because I’m so over the holiday season already. I want life to get back to normal.

As I’m trying to get my life back to normal – since I’m not doing anything for the new year – I’m looking through some ideas for new shop [LINK] items. I am going to hopefully find the fabric I want to use to make one Hot/Cold Compress. I already bought the rice so I’m going to at least make one small one just to see if anyone is really interested in them. I’m going to try to make it in the shape of a heart or something like that – these things are great for little kid boo-boos too, less mess then when you use ice. So this first one I think I’m going to use this flannel frog printed fabric.

I’m also going to try to finish up this pencil sleeve I have all cut out – I just haven’t had time to finish getting it together.

Also in this long list of crafts, this week I’m going to sit down and draw out a new pattern for the 50’s headscarf [LINK] so I’ll have child sized ones too – and so I can make myself one that fits without having to wear a wig. ^_^

There are two packages I need to get ready for the mail too. One is a late Christmas package and one is a birthday package. I really have no clue what to put into either package. =_= I know that’s horrible. I think though once I get to work on these new items for the shop my brain will start working again and I’ll get some new ideas.

Santa Spends All Night Hitch-Hiking

Baking Cookies

I’m sure everyone is in the holiday spirit since Christmas is only a few days away. Which means taking part in family traditions.

Baking cookies has only been a tradition over the past few years – well with my mom anyways. Every Christmas I used to help my aunt bake cookies but I haven’t helped her in years. This year I made gingerbread cookies with my niece. They were not that hard to make to my surprise, they just always look super hard to make but it’s not.

We made gingerbread men and bears. Those were the only two cookie cutters I had dug out so that’s what we used. haha.

When my brothers and I became older my mom started having Christmas Eve at home. Which was us opening gifts she bought us instead of her having to drag everything to my grandma’s house. My grandma’s house is where we always had Christmas Day – my mom and aunt would take the gifts they bought to her house so my grandma could watch us open all our gifts. She was in a wheelchair so it was easier to bring the gifts to her house. My younger brother and I always stayed there on Christmas Eve – my older brother lived with her. So when we were younger we’d fall asleep seeing maybe two or three gifts under the tree and when we’d wake up Christmas morning – usually around 5am – there would be gifts every where.

When my grandma passed and my grandpa moved in with his new wife – we never see him now – my mom started having Christmas day at her house. Everyone brings their gifts and we open them.

But this year since my brother has gotten a divorce and he was…well stupid…and signed papers he didn’t read that well, we only get my niece on Christmas Eve. So we’re having Christmas day on Christmas Eve at my moms.

I’ve been counting down the days for my niece. And the way we explained why she gets to open gifts on Christmas Eve – my mom told her Santa comes early to our house. It’s not that creative of a reason but she’s two, I’m sure when she gets older and around other kids we’ll have to come up with another reason why Santa comes early. I did tell her he’s so busy on Christmas Eve night that he already filled her stocking.

There’s so many gifts under the tree right now that there are trees in the branches. I’m – for some reason – in charge of putting gifts under the tree and making sure they’re going to stay there. One of the problems is the fact that there’s so many big boxes. Ugh. And then I put together the art table so that doesn’t help either. =_= Everyone has been bringing their gifts here though, that’s why there’s so much and 95% of them are for my niece.

I have been trying to think about how to handle opening gifts. We have a rule that no one opens gifts until they’re all passed out – that’s been the rule as long as I can remember. It just makes it easier because you don’t have to try to walk through wrapping paper and trash. More then likely I won’t be opening gifts while everyone else is because I’ll be taking pictures. We’re going to start opening gifts around 4pm – and I think we’re going to have a little dinner before (or after).

The little dinner is just going to be like a veggie tray, cookies, cheeses and some sliced meat for the meat eaters. More like just having things out to snack on while we’re all here.

Christmas Day we’re going to have our regular holiday lunch. Which I just realized I didn’t do any shopping for so I’m just going to have to see what I can pull together – I know I can do like a quick stuffing, noodles…and something else.

Friday afternoon my mom and I took my niece to the mall. My mom had to pick up a couple DVDs – which some how led to having lunch and doing some window shopping.

To my surprise my mom ate Chinese – and even had a vegetarian egg roll. I had veggie fried rice and steamed veggies – which my niece took all my broccoli. I know I get blamed for it but my niece would rather eat veggies than meat – but at least she’s a kid who eats her veggies!

While we were at the mall I went into one shop where they were having a major sale on their clearance items. If the original price was $10 or under the item was now $1! So I ended up picking up a pair of earrings, a headband, and two kinds of nail polish. My niece had to have mac and cheese chapstick, a zipper necklace and a headband with this HUGE hot pink bow on it.

Tomorrow – well I’m excited for. It’s going to be my Christmas because I get to see Jason. ^_^ I haven’t seen him for over a month and I miss him so much. After work he’s going to come pick me up and take me out to dinner – and we’re going to exchange gifts. I feel bad about his gifts because I didn’t get him a lot. The one thing I bought him I had to hunt it down…and the one thing I made I just hope he finds the humor in it.

So to get ready for tomorrow I cut my hair tonight. Shaved the sides down and took a good two inches off the middle. In the morning I’m going to get my camera on the charger because I really want a picture of us together at dinner – hopefully the waitress isn’t rude or anything. I’ll have to do some other things to get ready in the morning too – so I can bake the peanut butter cookies that I already have mixed.

When it comes to what I’m going to wear…I have no idea. I’ve tried thinking about it but honestly all I think about is how wet it is outside. It’s suppose to be around 43(f) tomorrow, so getting back to the winter weather. I have a couple shirt dresses dug out.

The first one is long sleeve and it’s black and dark green.

The second one is pink with hearts all over it.

Wearing a dress means wearing my boots – which are great in wet weather. Also means wearing tights. I have hot pink tights dug out and purple tights. I figure tomorrow will mean a little fashion show in front of the mirror in the bathroom about an hour before he gets off work. Ugh.

Talking about clothes, for Christmas Eve I’m going to wear this great purple layered skirt with a red top and heart print leggings. ^_^ Just because. Haha.

Tonight I’m going to watch my cooking shows – Cook Your Ass Off, Guys Grocery Games & Cutthroat Kitchen – and work on some beaded jewelry for my shop [LINK]. Well I don’t think I’ll be getting to the stage of putting anything together, just getting patterns drawn out. Plus I have no idea what the kittens did with the elastic I had.

I figure this will be my last blog entry until after Christmas. So I want to say I hope everyone enjoys the week – if you celebrate Christmas or not.
