Arm In Arm

I’m alive!

I know I’ve been a bad blogger over these last few weeks, but this post is going to make up for it – hopefully in a good way. haha! ^_^

West Virgina

On the 9th I went with my mom and her husband to a family reunion in West Virgina. It was a reunion for a side of his family. It was a long drive – around three hours. And it was just SO hot. =_= It rained a tiny bit, but that didn’t help anything.

I only knew a handful of people who were there. A cousin though I was glad to see. When we were younger her family would always come stay with us during the summer so we kind of grew up like sisters and I do miss her. She’s in the 20’s now and a mother of two – which is still so hard for me to believe.

As I thought though, food was limited for me. A few salads was pretty much all I could have.

So here are a few pictures from the trip. ^_^

These following pictures are all of the Ohio river [link].

We went right through the town that’s known for The Mothman [link]. So on the way back home I was able to talk my mom into stopping and finding it. It took a couple trips around the block, but we did find it! I posted a few pictures of it on my tumblr [link] and I honestly can’t believe the number of notes on them. ^_^

This is the sunset from the trip home. ^_^

I was surprised at how my Ohio River pictures turned out, I honestly didn’t think they would.

Fried Rice

On the 10th I made a totally simple rice and veggies.

If you want to took your veggies and rice a great tip is to cook your rice first and put it in the refrigerator while you cut the veggies and get them cooking. This gives the rice time to cook completely and it makes it a lot easier to cook with the veggies. I also make sure my rice is a little under – if you cook your rice too much it becomes mushy and you can’t mix it with anything.

Mushy rice makes me sad.

The week of the 11th I started working on new projects so I could hopefully get some things finished before a show that was the following weekend. I did get some things done, but I made sure to make time to go outside – even in the rain – to take some pictures.

On the 11th I was back in the kitchen trying my hand at making…

Tater Tots

I thought it was going to be a pain in the butt and just be hard to make them, it’s not. Plus you can add whatever spices you want to them. I already blogged the recipe [link]. ^_^

Peach Oatmeal Bars

My mom always made raspberry jam bars. Well I made peach jam bars. I’m going to post the recipe for them at some point next week. ^_^

I know I was in shock when I heard that Robin Williams passed away. I think I’m still in a bit of shock. I think a lot of people around my age all feel like we lost a family member because we grew up on a lot of his work. One of my favorites is Hook – I’m a big fan of Peter Pan. I had a little movie day with his films…though it was still as if he was alive.

I’m also a fan of his stand-up. When I was around 16 my aunt and I watched one of his stand-ups he did in the 80’s. Honestly, some of the funniest things I’ve ever heard.

Christopher Reeve [link] wrote two books and in one of them he mentions Robin. They were good friends and had even went to school together. The mention of Robin is just so funny – and he was doing it to cheer Christopher up after the accident.

In my mind Superman and Peter Pan are together again.

On the 12th I was pretty much finished with the new items I was working on.

Produce Bags

These are produce bags! Yep, reusable produce bags.

Chapstick Keychains

I have so many of these made up. They’re little fabric pockets for you to slip your chapstick in! I made myself one and it has saved me from digging through my bag trying to find my chapstick.

On the 12th I also made something super simple – as in something I could put on the stove and not really watch. Green beans, zucchini, cabbage, carrots, onion and pasta – well worth it!

After I had lunch I fixed the dress I bought a couple weeks ago. ^_^ It was a super long dress with long sleeves – now it’s a knee length short sleeved dress. I haven’t had a chance to wear it yet though – I can’t wait to wear it!

Pasta And Meatballs

I have been dying to make zucchini “pasta”. I finally made it! Oh and I loved it. ^_^

The pasta sauce I used was also homemade.

Last of all lentil meatballs! I’ve made them before, but the way I made them this time they really were like meatballs! A lot of people asked for the recipe so I posted it [link].

On the 14th I went to the fairgrounds to set up for the Dover Steam Show [link]. It was so windy that we could only set up the tarp. Every time we tried to set anything out the wind would just blow it over. So I went on a little trip to the bathroom and I found this guy just sitting there – and as always I had my camera. I couldn’t pass up a picture.

The Steam Show started on the 15th and ended on the 17th. This year I did make a bit more compared to last.

A little girl also bought my first crayon apron! I had two but only had enough crayons to fill one. She bought the one with crayons in it and made her dad help her put it on. ^_^

This is my younger brother and my niece. He’s pulling her on her little tractor…and yes that is a big pig in the wagon.

The vendor who was set up beside us is one we know from loads of other events. Well she had to go to the fair board office to turn in and pay for the things she’s entering into the fair this year. Well I went with her to get the paper I needed because I want to enter a couple pictures into the fair.

She paid the fee for me! So I’m entering two photographs into the fair. This is my first time ever and I’m kind of excited about it, but I also don’t see myself placing at all.

I’m entering a picture of a ladybug and one of the pictures I took of the Ohio river.

The cool thing is, I also have four free passes for the fair!

Tuesday I went out with my aunt.

I ended up fining a pair of black jeans for 50 cents – yes I bough them! haha. I also bought my niece a book.

The whole reason I went with my aunt was to buy couscous, which I did buy..but I also bought some seasoning for popcorn and seaweed rice crackers. ^_^

Outfit Picture

Here’s an outfit picture from Tuesday. The shirt is sheer and it was close to 90 so I had to wear it – I have a bra that’s made to be wore while working out so I wore that under it.

Yesterday I watched movies and made bracelets. Though I didn’t realize how many I made until I looked at my empty spool of cord. Opps! the good thing is a lot of them are kid bracelets that I sell for $1.

Tomorrow I’ll be in the kitchen.

Saturday I’m going for a picnic..first date?…and I’m going to make lemon sugar cookies and a cold couscous salad.

The cookies are going to be super simple to make. I think I’m going to cut them out instead of making them all round. I have some little star and flower cookie cutters.

When it comes to the couscous salad, I want to add eggplant so I have to figure out how I want to cook it first.

After the picnic we’re going to do a little hiking and picture taking!

I haven’t cleaned my boots off though – which I know sound super weird..but they have mud caked on them so that’s why I want to try to clean them off a little bit.

Tomorrow night I’ll start trying to figure out what I’m going to wear. It’s going to be hot…ugh. I already know I’m wearing jeans and a t-shirt. haha. I am going to take a tan top and light jacket just in case. I’m really hoping it doesn’t rain.

  1. With the exception of the spiders (which I almost had a heart attack when I saw them lol) I loved your photos. Looks like you had a great time!

I really had a hard time when I heard about Robin Williams passing too. I feel like you, almost like loosing a family member or friend. I grew up watching all his movies. I recently saw (post death) some of his comedy sketches too. The world will really miss him I think 🙁 So sad.

  2. It’s great to see that you’re back! I love how “photo-heavy” this post is. It really helps illustrate your week.

That’s such an interesting tip about cooking rice and veggies. I’ll definitely need to try it out sometime–thanks for sharing.

You are such a DIY-er! The reusable produce bags are such a cool idea and the dress looks so adorable on you. I wish I had a hand for sewing. (:
All your DIY bracelets are gorgeous too.

The passing of Robin Williams was extremely saddening. I didn’t grow up watching many of his productions, but I know he’s touched the lives of many. I’m sure he’ll be missed.
