A Blitzkrieg Of Images To Break Your Will

So I thought it would be best to get all the food related items out of the way first. ^_^ If you’re going through a diet, I’m sorry.

BLT Bites

BLT bites are the most amazing idea ever. I posted the recipe [link]. It’s super simple and doesn’t really take much time at all. A great idea for a party…I just made it for a snack.

Yellow Squash & Beets

This was a super simple thing to make. I just cut up yellow squash and fresh beets. I tossed them with some spices and roasted them in the oven.

Blueberry Smoothie

To use some frozen blueberries up that have been in the freezer for a while I made smoothies! I used vanilla soy milk, blueberries and a banana. It made enough for two yummy servings. ^_^

Pizza

Once in a while I get a craving for pizza. It always happens when I don’t have anything I can use for pizza sauce. Just my luck! So I made a (vegan) yeast free dough. I found a can of diced tomatoes, put them in a bowl and got my hands dirty. I squished them up and made a little sauce with them. I also added onion, green pepper and red pepper. Yum!

Pasta And Squash

This was a major adventure for me. I made roasted red pepper sauce! It didn’t turn out as smooth as most people would like it – I need a new blender – but I liked it being a little on the chunky side. The yellow squash was spiced with Italian spices and roasted in the oven. Oh and the pasta is whole wheat.

Steak, Potatoes and Cabbage

Who said vegans can’t have hearty dinners? I’m seriously considering sharing the recipe for my steak. Don’t worry, there’s no animal in there it’s all bean! I was really just playing around with it. I had already cut the potatoes up and placed them in the Italian dressing. So what goes well with potatoes? Steak.

I ended up taking pinto beans to make the steak. I also made a vegan gravy to go over the steak – an onion gravy. The cabbage was just salt and pepper cabbage. Last of all the potatoes were placed with Italian dressing for a couple hours.

Yes, potatoes in Italian dressing and cooked. It sounds super weird, but honestly it just is amazing.

That’s all the food porn I have for right now, that’s pretty much a week of food. Haha.

This will be my last post for this week. Friday morning I leave with friends to go to Toledo for an convention. ^_^

At first I wasn’t excited about it because…well I was down about some other things that just took all the fun out of everything else. Eh, life. But now all of that has passed and I’m super excited for this weekend!

I’m on a super tight budget though, so I’m taking a cooler packed with drinks. I mean a drink at a gas station costs at least $1.25, so I can at least save money when it comes to that.

I also bought a couple things that I can microwave, in hopes the hotel room has a microwave and a fridge. If not, I’m kind of screwed. I did look at the hotel website and it said most rooms had these things…fingers crossed our room does. I’ve been in a hotel room that had neither, so it does happen.

Now when it comes to packing, I have zero things packed. Haha. I found my suitcase though, so at least I’m that far.

Tomorrow afternoon I have to walk over to my aunts to see what she had to do to my hat to fix it. She’s also going to do the last cut on my shorts so they’re a little more even. ^_^ I also pack my costume separate from everything else, just in case paint isn’t dry or something like that.

Since I have to have my boots for my cosplay, I’m just going to wear them Friday and when I come home Sunday. It just takes up a lot of room to pack boots. Plus it looks like it’s going to be warm, so I’ll be able to wear a skirt.

So fingers crossed con will be awesome and my cosplay will really work out. ^_^

  1. MANNNN I’m super hungry looking at these pictures! They look super delicious and they’re easy too, I might want to try making them soon!

    Have fun at the convention!

  2. Wow, the food looks amazing! I really want to try the BLT bites and the pizza, I may have a go at the BLT bites (though most of my cooking involves taking stuff out of a packet and putting it straight in the oven haha).

Most of the hotels I go to don’t have a fridge or a microwave, sadly, so I always end up eating out which can be quite expensive. Hope yours does though.

Hope you have fun at the convention!
    xx
